Weddings are beautiful all months of the year, but there’s just something I love a little bit more about summer weddings. The warm weather, the bright blue skies, the choice between bright colors or timeless pastels… Really, the choices are endless here.
There’s no denying that there are a lot of “stipulations” or “expectations” when it comes to summer weddings. Which is why we are here today to bust some of the most common summer wedding myths!
- You have to have an outdoor wedding
There are many beautiful outdoor venues, don’t get me wrong; but just because you decide to have a wedding in the summer time doesn’t mean you have to have your wedding on a beach, garden, lake, or forest.
If an indoor wedding is what you’ve always dreamed of, then there’s no harm in doing just that! It still allows for you to take beautiful pictures outside, while being able to enjoy your day indoors, comfortable with all your friends and family. - You have to have a “summer-y” color theme
Bright colors are this summers wedding trend, but that doesn’t mean you have to include them in your wedding! Soft whites and pastels with some greenery also make for beautiful summer decor and theme in the summertime! Softer colors are also timeless when it comes to photography. They aren’t going to go out of trend or style when you’re looking back on your wedding 10-20 years later. - The heat will ruin everything
Maybe if you’re having your wedding in the Sahara Dessert, but most of the time you know whether you have over the top summers or if you and your guests will feel comfortable outside all day.
There are many things you can do to help make the most of your wedding on a hot day. Make sure there are shaded areas available at your venue, supplying beverages to keep your guests hydrated, consult with your florist about flowers that will last all day in the heat, choose a dress made of lighter material, the list goes on. - You can’t wear sleeves
Girl, you can wear whatever you want to wear! If sleeves are your jam, rock those sleeves! They are trendy and so beautiful! If you’re worried about being too warm or uncomfortable, look for a dress made with lighter materials (maybe a strapless or short sleeve dress is the best option for you). - Formal apparel is a no-no
It is commonly believed that summer weddings are more casual than weddings in other months of the year. Though it may be easier to have a casual vibe, it absolutely does not mean you have to rule out wearing formal attire. Additionally, if you plan on having your wedding indoors, or live where it doesn’t reach unbearable temps during the summer, theres nothing holding you back from having your fancy dream wedding.
With summer and wedding season right around the corner, we hope these summer wedding myths help you plan and have the wedding of your dreams!
