Congratulations, you’re married…and you have an expensive wedding dress just sitting in your closet. Now what?! Well, if you are like me you never took the time to do anything with your dress. In fact, it’s still in the bag you bought it in and hanging on the same hanger since your wedding day. Please tell me I am not the only one? Now, if you are more resonbilble you probably had your dress dry cleaned and boxed properly for safe keeping.
There are so many things we can do with our wedding dress after the big day. We can properly clean it and store it. We can leave it just as it is and hang it in our closet. We can store it and let our daughters try it on. I personally have tried on my own dress since our wedding day. Let’s be honest, it’s kind of fun to put it on again, even if we can’t zip it up! There is also so many creative things to do with your wedding dress! Here are a few that I have found…
The first idea that I have always thought about was a Trash the Dress session! I think these look so much fun. However, I’m not sure I can get over the idea of ruining my dress. I mean, it did cost a small fortunate and what if I have a daughter…she would never have the chance to try on my dress like I did with my mom’s dress. Then, I think to myself, “Hello! Think of the fun memories and great photos this would make.” We will see what my 10 year anniversary brings…

I found a few ideas that take parts of your dress and make them into keepsakes. You can do this with your dress after the wedding or if you have alterations done you can use the extra fabric and incoportate it into your wedding day. You could do this for yourself, but I also thought that it would be so fun to make a couple extra of these keepsakes and if you have a daughter or daughters be able to pass them on to them on their wedding day.
